Speculating in Cryptocurrency

A friend asked me about cryptocurrency investing and didn't stop asking me so I wrote down some thoughts about speculation.

Sight offers no visibility. Insight is your only guide. What landed you in this situation is the fantastical abundance that today’s technology and society created at this moment, a savory spark of unknown consequence. But doing it it isn’t free. Thoughts and emotions will war. Facts will contradict reality. Spinnaker-laden yachts scream victory in open seas but the only noise you can hear is the sound of a wood chipper. Tic toc, tic toc. Maybe an accumulating alienation arrests your thoughts, operating under little direct authority, as some force within you metabolizes failure no matter how hard you try to hang on. The meat hooks of one potential outcome - the invisible, constant probabilities that stream from the past into the present and then onward into a hazy future – can cut and you will bleed shame, despair and regret and extinction-level self-doubt. Some fill the breach with theft, murder, hate. The life-affirming outcome you desire is yoked to the rot of loss.  “All over” could mean an end or a blanket, youth is squeezed out of you or is injected into you. The parent material of gains is fear and doubt, and the parent material of losses is greed and hope.  Your only defense is to swallow the whole two-sided spider and hope that, in some dark recess of your psyche, chemistry and mechanics will separate the nutrients from the waste and the action that spills on you will become your sight, your eyes and a future you can live with.
